World's Most Expensive Bed - Sleeping in High Style

Looking for some high end furniture for your bedroom that is a bit special and unique? Then maybe British designer Stuart Hughes can help you. Liverpudlian Hughes is known for creating the world’s most expensive things. He has created the world’s most expensive suit, the world’s most expensive PS3 console (that one is gold plated) and the world’s most expensive iPhone case. Now he has turned his expensive vision to home furnishings and has come up with the world’s most expensive bed!In collaboration with an Italian furniture maker Hebanon by Fratelli Basile Interiors of Nocera Superiore Italy Hughes has created the Baldacchino Supreme bed that could be yours for just £4 million (about $6.5 million).

The biggest reason for the huge price tag is not the pure silk canopies and curtains or the fact that it is crafted from the finest cherry, ash and oak woods, although all of those things are very nice. The fact that the bed is dripping with gold is why it is just so expensive as well as the reason perhaps that so far only two of them have been created. The whole structure is coated with 24 carat solid gold leaf, which alone has a value of around $5 million! The diamond studded headboard is optional but a nice touch if you are a fan of bling bling!

If you are going to buy the world’s most expensive bed you will of course need some nice bed linens to put on it. How about a nice set of bespoke linens from Charlotte Thomas? These sheets are handmade from one thousand thread count Egyptian cotton and are woven with real gold thread. They do cost about $2,500 each but that is a small price to pay to make sure that your luxury bed would be truly the most expensive in the world!
