First of all, the landscape lighting is necessary for easy and safety of movement in the darkness. All the alleys, paths, gardens, including such large objects as sculptures, fountains, pools and ponds should be well lit as well as summer terraces, garden furniture and the house itself.Unusual lighting effects can be achieved with the help of modern lighting equipment. The use of colored filters or light sources is one of the options for creating a dynamic distinctive image.

Outdoor lighting includes several types of lighting:

  1. Security lighting is used for illuminating the whole territory, especially those places that should be under video monitoring. Working from the twilight photo sensors or timers, security lighting creates an effect of human presence in the area.
  2. Functional lighting is primarily about safety, durability, ease of operation and maintenance. For example, the pavement must be sufficiently lit for easy and pleasant walking in the evening. It is important to avoid the irritating glare effect. That's why special light fittings boasting light reflection effect will help to deal with this problem. Properly selected lighting design doesn't violate the compositional solution as a whole. It is also necessary to take seasonal factors into account.  If the light fittings are used in winter they should be made of frost-resistant material with a sufficient level of protection.
  3. Metal halide, halogen lamps and LED lamps are most commonly used in outdoor lighting. Today self-inclusive street lights fitted with solar panels and batteries become more and more popular. Though they don't provide extremely bright light, but they can be used to create a certain artistic effect.
  4. Decorative lighting was designed to provide the play of light and shadow in particular places serving for a pleasant pastime. Pendant lighting fixtures are generally used in lighting systems to illuminate the paths and alleys all around the territory. Wall fittings serve for lighting the facade and its elements. Park lamps are used as a part of decoration in order to illuminate the elements of landscape design.
