A good mattress contributes to better relaxation during sleep, stress and fatigue relieve and helps to unbrace your back muscles.  Remember, the mattress should be suitable for your weight and conform to the shape of your body. Too hard mattress will put pressure on your spine, while too soft one will sag and as the result your spine will be in a bent position. Therefore, it is desirable to buy an orthopedic mattress. The effect is higher the closer the spine is to the natural position.

There are hard, half-hard and soft mattresses. Latex mattress stuffed with natural resins is considered to be the hardest.  Soft mattress, featuring natural bat, preserves its shape and support your body during sleep. Spring-latex mattress comprises a certain number of springs of different diameters for different parts of the body.

Water and air mattresses are the most 'orthopedic'. First they were specially designed for hospitals and medical institutions. The high orthopedic qualities of these mattresses made them popular very quickly. However, some technical defects didn't allow these mattresses to capture a mattress market.  The air mattress compressor creates a high level of noise, while the water mattress has a large weight (up to a ton) and its owners usually face a problem of water replacing  every two or three years.

Latex mattress is made of natural material, latex, which is natural foam, produced of rubber tree sap. Dynamic and static characteristics of the latex, its resistance to environmental factors and durability make it an ideal stuffing material for mattresses. Air channels in the latex stuffing provide a good air circulation, while its superior elasticity and long operating period make it excel the foam and spring stuffing at its qualities. In addition, these mattresses boast the maximum orthopedic effect.

The manufacturers also use different forms and combinations of latex with other materials, producing mattresses of two-side hardness (when the hardness is different on the face and reverse sides), mattresses with a horse hair or coir layer, etc. Keep in mind that synthetic latex mattresses are more accessible in price.
