It should be said Spanish Revival home decor style, which is so popular today, was influenced by Spanish Colonial, Moorish Revival and Spanish Baroque styles. As a result, exterior of homes based on this style had such classic Spanish features as red terracotta tile roofing, white stucco walls, carved entry doors, window grills and wrought iron gates.

As for interior, main features of the Spanish Style are decorative wrought iron, hand painted tiles, wooden ceiling beams, built-in alcoves and niches, arches, rich fabrics and dark wood. Wooden ceiling beams and hand painted tiles add a warm appeal to the living space. Glossy and matte finishes of the tile combined together add amazing depth to the patterns. Stair risers decorated with such tiling are among the most distinctive features of the Spanish Style.

In fact, there are plenty of types of Spanish Style decor and each of them has its own peculiarities. For example, Colonial Style features solid doors with ornamentals, bold wooden pieces of furniture, window sills and bright cushions, metal patterns and chunky glassware. No matter you have chosen Colonial Style, Hacienda Style or Spanish Baroque, all of them have classic architectural elements of Spanish Style. Its palette tends toward bright textiles and dark brown furniture. Rich reds, indigo blue and earthy brown are ideal for pillows, curtains, rugs and blankets. Antique shades of gold, crème, beige and yellow are for walls.

The typical shades in the kitchen are gold and red. As Spanish Style was influenced by Italian Renaissance, large paintings with antique gilded frames are one more feature of this home decor style.
