As you remove Christmas decorations you should care about the proper storage to get them out in a year and use them further. When you store your Christmas decorations appropriately, you don't only save your money, but keep your pleasant family memories. Therefore it is important to clean your decorations properly and organize them in a proper manner.

The storage can require enough space and wrappings. It is very convenient to use boxes for that. Do not throw shoe boxes as they can be good for this purpose. It is best of all to use plastic boxes with separate sections. They perfectly suit for ornaments as moisture and vermin can't get inside.

Right organization is also an important issue. Try to put them in the order you will get them out for use in the next year. Divide all staff into categories and follow the scheme to pack everything correctly.

Every year you should sort the decorations out and remove the old and broken ones. Some of them can be out of fashion or worn out. If you do not like some ornaments any longer do not throw them out. It would be better to give them to other people, to the charity for instance.

Clean all decorations well before packing them in the box. Depending on the material, it can be either washed or just wiped. Tree bubbles are usually the most fragile and need careful approach. Wrap them first into the acid free tissue paper and then put into the container. You will keep them long if you treat them this way. When you pack little hanging baubles it is perfect to use clean egg carton. Cardboard fruit trays are good for keeping large baubles. They are given free in the shops if you ask for them. Keep the baubles apart.

Separate sections can be required not for baubles only, but standing ceramic ornaments such as Santa, Angel or Snowman. If you wish to avoid breakage use shredded paper, but you should be careful as you put little items into it. They can easily be lost there.  If you are looking for cheap containers you can resort to plastic cups. Each piece will be placed separately and you will not lose anything in them. Make sure to surround the pieces with shredded paper too because they must not be vacant place there.

If you store metal hanging ornaments keep them together but not touching each. Place them into the box that will protect metal ornaments from moisture. Plastic boxes are not advised here as they can accumulate humidity and the ornaments can become rusty. You will need cardboard tubes to hang the lights around them. Be careful not to tangle them.
