What is better: coal or gas? This is the first question we ask ourselves before to buy a grill. There are plenty of arguments both in favor of them and against. But in fact, it is nothing more than a matter of taste. Of course, our choice depends not only on our taste, but on convenience of BBQ. Let's start from the taste. They say steak cooked on charcoal features more distinct flavor of smoke than steak cooked on gas. Though, nobody will be able to tell the difference between the hamburgers cooked on gas and coal.

As for convenience, both of them are easy to use and products cooked on gas and charcoal BBQ have smoke flavor. If you do not like it, you are better to buy an electric BBQ. What are the other factors influencing our choice? They are cost, grilling and space. Where are you going to put your BBQ? If you want to put it on a covered small area, none of them is recommended. Both of them have to be away from the building.

As for the cost, coal grills are cheaper than gas ones, but charcoal is rather expensive. To buy charcoal per cookout you may need a few thousand dollars, while gas will cost about $20.

Well, let's take a look at pros and cons of gas BBQ. Its pros are controllable and instant heat, versatility and easy cleaning. You can turn down gas heat when you want. Using gas BBQ, you can cook anything. As for cleaning, you do not have to clean dirty hot ashes. The mess is collected on drip trays.

Gas fuel is cost-effective. One calor cylinder is enough to cook during 8 hours. Gas BBQ may require extra equipment. As for advantages of coal BBQ, these are natural and delicious flavor and initial cost. Charcoal BBQ cons are timing, slow heat and fuel cost. If it takes 10 minutes to heat up the gas BBQ, in case of coal BBQ you will need 30-40 minutes. Its heat is not controllable unlike the gas BBQ and it is more difficult to clean.

So, if you often have barbeque, you are better to choose gas BBQ. Charcoal grill is for those who like natural wood flavor and if you are not going to have barbeque every weekend, you may like it.
