Bathroom Lighting Design Ideas

Though bathroom is the smallest room in the house it must be well-lit. The fact that the bathroom features a lot of shiny surfaces (glass, tile, metal, and mirrors) must be taken into account while thinking about bathroom lighting design. All the light fixtures should go with the overall style of the interior. At the present time the lamps, designed in high-tech and minimalistic style are very popular and trendy.
Pint-sized halogen lamps are also widely used because of the soft pleasant light they create. Halogen lamps can be installed in suspended ceilings or to be open. Bathroom light fixtures can be set in any ceiling, regardless of the material it is made of.
Of course the choice of lighting in the bathroom, as well as in any other room is purely personal matter. But you should also consider the fact that the bathroom has its own so-called areas of light.

The first area is near to the mirror. This area is considered to be the working area, so the light should be bright, but not hit in the eye. It is recommended to use ambient light here, which is achieved by using a lampshade made of glass or plastic. Position the lamps symmetrically on the level at a height of two meters from the floor if you want your lighting to be balanced and proportional. In the mirror area all types of lamps will look good whereas the light fixtures can be fixed on the wall as well as on the mirror.

The second area is bath tub. This zone can be emphasized in various ways. Some designers, for example, recommend directing the light beam exactly on the bath tub, leaving the rest of the bathroom in the shadow. Beautiful light over the water can be created using pin-up lamp with a lampshade, made of colored glass.

The third zone is decorative. For example, you can install the floor lighting. You can also highlight other areas in the bathroom. Don't be afraid to experiment with color bulbs in the lamps, they may be not only of the traditional white (transparent) color, but also yellow, pink, etc. This will allow you to enhance the overall interior color scheme.
